Position Overview:
This position is responsible for all aspects of Colorado Bankers Life’s (CBL) sales efforts through field producers in the assigned territory, including recruiting, training and motivating field producers. Provides initial training on products, administration, systems, and commissions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for setting and achieving/exceeding planned sales results in the assigned territory.
- Actively recruits and appoints a growing network of producers.
- Recruits and does initial screening of new general agents. Develops general agent distribution channel within CBL parameters for product, mode of sale, and desirable market segments.
- Works with the Senior Vice President of Sales to set performance criteria for General Agent performance, with check points for comparison of actual performance to plan.
- Works with General Agents who are having trouble meeting CBL sales standards. Reviews agents who have been identified as having problems, identifies those who are taking remedial action. If necessary, terminates CBL’s contracts with agents who do not meet CBL criteria.
- Provides general agent training on the specifics of CBL product features, administration and sales aids. Explains the features of CBL’s commission system and statements. Answers questions regarding underwriting standards. Stresses the quality of business, profitability and sales compliance.
- Acts as general agent home office liaison, placing them in contact with the appropriate individuals for ongoing support and administration. Intervenes on the general agents’ behalf in problems they feel may not be properly dealt with.
- Proposes solutions to general agent problems or obstacles they face in servicing their business. Intervenes on their behalf in the event of customer service problems.
- Provides field input to development of sales aids and illustrations. Acts as CBL public relations contact for general agents. Presents CBL’s image to the insurance community.
- Answers advanced markets or qualified plan questions for agents/brokers. Provides agents with various scenarios for potential customers and potential sales options.
- Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.
- Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.
- Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or Marketing.
- 10 or more years experience working with field producers, i.e. recruiting/training.
- Product/company knowledge of own company and that of peer companies.
- Must be experienced working with agents and field activity.
- Minimum of 3-4 years in a management capacity or its equivalent.
- People skills, credibility, dedication to the insurance industry and the company represented.
- Knowledge of CBL products, markets and systems.
Preferred Position Requirements:
- Professional insurance designation, such as CLU or LOMA or other insurance self study programs are suggested.
