Position Overview:

Under general supervision performs a variety of activities including coordinating the submission of new business, proposals, renewals, commission questions, reports, etc. for a particular region or regions. In addition, is a liaison to brokers, BC/BS Agency personnel and sales representatives and internal departmental staff.

Essential Job Functions:

May perform duties unique to the area, such as:

  • Coordinates and performs sales support activities for various Life/Disability products in a particular region.
  • Instructs and counsels BC/BS personnel, agencies, and brokers, on all Basic/Voluntary Life & Disability products, legislative compliance and administrative policies within the assigned region(s).
  • Coordinates and monitors the implementation of new products and product changes.  Coordinates the flow of information from the Managing General Agents, BCBS agency, and broker to the appropriate internal departments.
  • Implements and coordinates lead tracking systems to monitor the sales of new and/or current products.
  • Operates as liaison between sales management, BCBS representatives, BCBS agency managers, brokers, and managing general agents.
  • Participates in administrative support activities (e.g. agent/broker and policyholder services, systems interface functions, etc.) as needed.
  • Conducts focus meetings between departments to coordinate effective processing of new business and update the group team on marketing developments within the region.
  • Sets up and assists in the facilitating of product-training sessions for agency sales within the region.
  • Coordinates on-site employee enrollments for products, as deemed necessary.  If necessary, trains the groups' benefits staff in conducting meetings.  Coordinates the administrative process through the group benefits staff.
  • Coordinates the development of sales materials (brochures, forms, and administrative manuals) within the specific region(s).
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date base and working knowledge of operational policies to initiate and ensure the timely provision of proposals and reports to requestors.
  • Complies with Corporate Integrity and Ethics policies.  Maintains complete confidentiality of company related business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Sr Marketing Service Coordinator in order to enhance the overall efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the department/division.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Requires two years of college with some courses in marketing, or general business administration, or its equivalent.
  • Requires three years of insurance, marketing, Customer Service or Underwriting experience, or its equivalent.
  • Broad knowledge of group/individual insurance, understanding or underwriting and sales functions. 
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a job-related field of concentration with specialized skill exercising logic to distinguish from opinion.  With some assistance from Sr Marketing Service Coordinator, define and analyze problems, draw conclusions, evaluate solutions, and communicate non-complex concepts.  Work experience that includes an understanding of benefits, rate calculations, billing and insurance terminology.
  • Ability to use facsimile equipment and company computers.  Working with PC Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), and coordinate data input, proposal development, etc.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • State license to sell life insurance.
