Position Overview
This position is responsible for the planning and coordination of marketing activity related to the sales of products throughout and assigned area. Responsible for the development of effective working relationships with brokers, general agents, and/or Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans within the area.
Essential Job Functions
May perform duties unique to the area, such as:
- Assists in marketing strategies and proposals to facilitate the sale of prospective groups through the BCBS sales network and/or agents/brokers in designated marketing area.
- Recommends and develops performance goals to ensure the acquisition of new group accounts, the sale of additional products to the existing groups, and retention of business.
- Provides appropriate field support to maximize the marketing/sales effort of BCBS reps and/or agents brokers with prospective groups.
- Advises the Regional Sales or Regional Vice President as to general business conditions, competition, problems and developments affecting sales activities under his/her control and recommends solutions.
- Develops and implements planning goals and activities which contribute to effective customer relations on all account assignments.
- Performs assignments at the direction of his/her superior to enhance the overall effectiveness of marketing function.
- Maintains a thorough familiarity with all contracts, certificates, underwriting regulations, merit rating procedures, and other information pertinent to sales and servicing efforts.
- Ensures that requested proposals are provided on a timely basis, that enrollment cards are properly reviewed and processed, and that any problems in the sales or servicing of accounts are resolved.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Marketing
- Requires four years of group or health insurance sales experience
- Knowledge of marketing principles, group insurance sales strategy, and technical aspects of life insurance.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet all licensing requirements.
